No worries, this is completely normal and easy to fix. There are usually two reasons why your towel might not be absorbing right away.
1) It Just Hasn’t Hit Peak Absorbency Yet
If your towel isn’t absorbing like the one in our short video, don’t worry — it just hasn’t reached its peak absorbency yet.
Wetcat towels are made from 100% unprocessed Turkish cotton, which naturally contains small amounts of natural oils and waxes that can slow absorbency at first. After a few washes, the fibers fully open up and your towel becomes softer, fluffier, and much more absorbent.
For a faster boost, soak your towel for 4–6 hours in warm water with a splash of white vinegar, then wash and tumble dry on low heat.
Unlike pre-treated or blended towels, Wetcat towels are made from pure, long-fiber Turkish cotton with no polyester and no harsh chemicals. They only get better with time and use.
2) The Absorbency Illusion
If your towel is already absorbing water but still feels different, here’s why.
Wetcat towels are thinner and lighter by design. While thick terry towels can weigh 700 grams or more, ours are around 300 grams and flat woven. Because of this, after use, they can feel more “wet” to the touch than a bulky terry towel. That doesn’t mean they absorb less — it’s actually the opposite.
The reason they feel wetter is because the water spreads evenly across the flat weave, instead of hiding inside thick loops. In other words, your towel is doing its job really well.
Bottom line: your towel just needs a little time to break in. Once it does, you will notice the difference. It will be softer, faster drying, and more absorbent than ever. Many of our customers say they will never go back to regular towels again.
